Title 1 - Mathematics

Welcome to the Title 1 - Mathematics website at Ambrose Catholic Academy. My name is Mr. Bartosik, and I look forward to working with your son and/or daughter to help them improve in all areas of mathematics.
Title 1 - Mathematics: The purpose of Title 1 Math is for students to learn math in one-to-one and smaller group settings. This course allows me to work with students closely, in order to help students in areas of need, and to help strengthen mathematical concepts that students are learning in their regular classrooms. We will be using computers, math games, workshetts, and manipulatives, to help improve student's mathematical knowledge, and help them to apply their knowledge into real life situations.
Helpful Ways to Help Children in Math:
1. Relate Math to Real Life Sitations - If children are learning to count money, have them group their money into different piles, and use money to buy pretzels, juice boxes, or freeze pops. If students are learning about even or odd numbers, ask them if different players on the Sabres or Bills have even or odd jersey numbers.
2. Games and Manipulatives - Use games at home, to help your children in Math. Using dice, playing cards, and board games to help your child understand adding and multiplication. You can always make up your own games at home, like Math Memory. (1 pile of cards has multiplication facts, the other piles have the answers to the multiplication facts. Try and match them up).
3. Use Whiteboards of Chalkboards - Children love completing Math problems on white boards and chalkboards. You can purchase these at local stores.
4. Websites - Children love to work on computers. Instead of having your children complete math problems on paper, have them work on the computer.
Below are a list of websites that students can use to help them with math:
I look forward to working with the students of Ambrose Catholic Aacademy to help strengthen their mathematical understanding, and build on areas of need. If you have any questions or comments , feel free to contact me.
